Breech Release

I help babies get ready for gentle birthing through uterine optimization, allowing them to turn from breech to head down

Integrating several holistic approaches, I have had great success in gently allowing many babies find their optimal position.

50% turn during the session.

Successful turning depends on how relaxed the body and uterus are, as well as the dynamics of the baby (size, position). The goal is to release the body and allow the uterus to be rounder and softer. Good fluid level and good fetal movement is very helpful. Success rates are highest for those receiving chiropractic care & Arvigo massage, and this combo has helped us turn even 37week babies in first pregnancies. It's powerful work.

Although this is not an ECV, at least not in the concept of it being comparable to what a hospital ECV is, it is a traditional midwifery practice of hands-on massage to reposition the uterus and baby. Fetal version results from this gentle, releasing method of allowing the baby to do what it would prefer to do, and that is to turn head down.

It is an integrating, peaceful, painless session.

5 things you should do when you find out your baby is breech after 30 weeks

1- Diaphragmatic breathing with functional body positioning
2- Chiropractic adjustments with uterine releases (Webster technique)
3- Arvigo abdominal massage; or at least massages that get into the back, hips & around the uterus
4- Moxibustion; ideally with acupuncture; otherwise home treatment
5- Uterine work from a midwife, traditional wombworker or physician (ECV)

Babies should be head down by 32 weeks

I am concerned about baby being stuck if baby is breech after 32 weeks. The fetal head is heavy enough by then to follow the rule of gravity and go head down. If it hasn't, then the reason is often related to uterine shape and pelvic bowl openness. You need to take a breech finding after 32w seriously and help your baby achieve it's easy birthing position of head down.

You have two options of timing for my work:

  • Schedule earlier with me so that my assessment guides what you do
  • Do the above things first and if it's not successful, then see me

I have a lot of experience and a deep understanding of many things that influence fetal positioning and the maternal body dynamics. I also have an ultrasound. Sometimes I wish women had seem me sooner because they really needed someone to work with them on how to adjust important things like breathing and pelvic posture. Sometimes I feel an energetic remedy like homeopathy or Bach flowers could have helped sooner. Often I feel that the dynamic of how big a baby is and how engaged it is could make a big difference in success. However, since at the time of this writing I've had a 100% success rate in gently turning babies for women that had both chiropractic and several Arvigo massages before seeing me, I also enjoy being the end of the line of these other professionals. I believe your instinct is what you should follow. If you are 35 weeks though, go ahead and get schedule with me without waiting longer.

My service is unique

People ask how my work differs from Arvigo massage or Webster chiropractic. My expertise and authority in my work is with the uterus and baby. That is a midwife's work. I can work deeper into the pregnant body and uterine dynamics because I know how to, and I think there's something about babies listening to me. The essence of midwifing is to guide along the natural design in gentle, supportive ways. My midwifery calling is to help babies out, and working a mommas body to help a baby's journey be smooth is what I do.
